Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe


An independant agency of the United States Government charged with monitoring and encouraging compliance with the Helsinki Final Act and other commitments of the 55 countries participating in the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
OREST DEYCHAKIWSKY - With the Commission since 1981, Mr. Deychakiwsky is Policy Advisor for Belarus, Bulgaria, Moldova, Romania, and Ukraine. He serves as security officer. Mr. Deychakiwsky has served as a member of U.S. delegations to numerous OSCE meetings and election observation missions in nine countries. He has authored many Commission publications, and has appeared at various policy and media forums addressing issues pertaining to his areas of responsibility. Mr. Deychakiwsky’s education earned him a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame and an M.A. from Georgetown University in Government and International Relations. Languages: Ukrainian (fluent) and good working knowledge of Belarusian and Russian.
