UNITED STATES HELSINKI COMMISSION

An independant agency of the United States Government charged with monitoring and encouraging compliance with the Helsinki Final Act and other commitments of the 55 countries participating in the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
JANICE HELWIG - Policy Advisor Ms. Helwig joined the Commission in 1994 as the Commission representative on the U.S. Mission to the OSCE in Vienna. Previously employed in the State Department 1991-1994, she served as an analyst working on the Balkans and a political officer in the U.S. Embassy Tirana. Ms. Helwig earned an M.A. in Art History from the University of Louisville as a N.B. Nettleroth Merit and a Hite scholar, as well as a B.A. in History & Classics, and was a National Merit Scholar. She has knowledge of German, French, Spanish, Albanian, ancient Greek and Latin.
